Total War: Three Kingdoms – The Furious Wild DLC Announced

Last month, in Creative Assembly’s July dev-blog, the studio confirmed that the Nanman would be coming in the next big DLC for Total War: Three Kingdoms. Today, that DLC has been officially announced; Total War: Three Kingdoms – The Furious Wild. Due to launch on the 3rd of September, The Furious Wild will be the game’s largest DLC to date.

“With the introduction of The Furious Wild Expansion Pack comes the first ever expansion of the Total War: Three Kingdom’s map,” writes Creative Assembly, on the DLC’s Steam page; “and its already rich cast of characters. Visit the jungles around Southern China and with it, the fearsome tribes of the Nanman.”

The upcoming Total War: Three Kingdoms – The Furious Wild DLC will be the first-ever ‘Expansion Pack’ DLC for the game, as distinct from previous ‘Chapter Packs.’ The DLC will introduce an entirely new faction, the Nanman, with four playable heroes, a unique tech tree, new gameplay mechanics, and more than 25 new units. The Nanman factions have a unique campaign which focuses on uniting the 19 Nanman tribes which dwell in the southern jungles of China.

The first of the new heroes coming in The Furious Wild is Meng Huo, the Nanman king who fought against Zhuge Liang many times. Alongside him, players will also be able to play campaigns with Lady Zhurong, King Mulu, and King Shamoke. As per usual, each of these characters boasts unique campaign mechanics and three unique units. Of course, not all of the new Nanman units have been revealed so far. However, the trailer does offer glimpses of war elephants, tiger handlers, blowpipe skirmishers, and more.

Total War: Three Kingdoms – The Furious Wild will launch on the 3rd of September, and is now available to pre-order on Steam. The DLC will be launching alongside the release of a Free-LC character for the Han Empire; Shi Xie. This new character is a nepotistic Han warlord who controls a border region close to the Nanman jungles.
