Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC Will Add a Medusa to the Dark Elves Roster

Less than a week now remains before the release of The Shadow and The Blade, the next Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC. In addition to two new Legendary Lords, Malus Darkblade and Deathmaster Snikch, the DLC will be bringing a host of new units to both the Dark Elves and the Skaven. The biggest new monster of the DLC is the Bloodwrack Medusa, a towering, serpentine creature which will be available for the Dark Elves.

Total War: Warhammer 2 DLC – The Bloodwrack Medusa

The Bloodwrack Medusa is the focus of the latest “Introducing…” video from Creative Assembly, a series which is used to highlight key units, such as the Salamanders from The Prophet and The Warlock DLC. While the trailer focuses on the standard medusa, there are actually three different versions of the monster coming in The Shadow and The Blade; the Bloodwrack Medusa, the Bloodwrack Shrine, and the Siren of Red Ruin.

The Bloodwrack Medusa itself, which is the standard version, is something relatively rare in Total War: Warhammer; a ranged-centric monster. Represented as a very powerful explosive shot, the medusa’s gaze is a fearsome anti-infantry weapon with high armour-piercing damage. Of course, as a monster, the medusa is no slouch in close-quarters, especially given that she causes terror. However, with very low armour, she won’t be a match for larger monsters up close, and she is vulnerable to missile fire. The Siren of Red Ruin, which is the Regiment of Renown for the Bloodwrack Medusa, is significantly more powerful. Not only is her gaze much stronger, but she also has an ability called Wail of Malice. When activated, this ability causes all enemies within 30 metres to take damage for 7 seconds.

Finally, there is the Bloodwrack Shrine. This wheeled, chariot-style vehicle has a Bloodwrack Medusa perched atop it; giving players all the power of the monster on a tougher, more mobile platform. Plus, the Shrine provides two powerful auras. Firstly, the Shrine’s Aura of Ardour gives all allies within 40 metres +7 Melee Attack and +4 Leadership. At the same time, the Shrine has an Aura of Agony, which imposes -7 Melee Attack and -4 Leadership on all enemies within the same range.
