Treyarch Reveals Changes To Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Armor

During the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 Multiplayer beta which aired earlier last week, players had the chance to experience and give feedback on how the game works and if there are any “unfair” mechanics that need rebalancing. One of those mechanics is the armor used in the mode, something that Treyarch will be fixing right away.

What we already know is that fans have been discontent over the fact that the body armor perk is extremely overpowered against all the other choices. Treyarch didn’t think that the perk needed nerfing, however, fans had other plans. To fight that, the developing team will be changing how the perk works before Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 officially releases.

In a detailed recap post by Treyarch on Reddit, the developer team revealed what they’ll be tweaking in the Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 armor feature. Here’s what they’ll be changing:

  • Explosives should shred Armor – that was not working in the Beta, and we’re fixing that.

  • Damage is now reduced by armor rather than being completely deflected by it.

  • Some of the player feedback from the game when fighting against a player with Armor was “cranked to 11,” and made it feel a lot worse than it actually was, so we’re reducing it to feel less annoying.

  • We added extra +25 bonus score reward for every kill against players with Armor to help feed your Scorestreak meter.

  • We’re also experimenting with a number of ideas to better support its role while also making it less appealing to highly aggressive players (for example, impacting certain aspects of movement speed or protection coverage area).

This change isn’t the only one in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. Treyarch has a few aces up their sleeves in terms of balancing and it will be interesting to see at what state the game will “fall into our hands”.
