Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 5 is now less than a week away, and as the new season launch approaches, Treyarch has released a teaser for a brand-new game mode; Double Agent. The mode appears to be significantly different from any of the game’s existing modes, with an emphasis on player communication.

Black Ops Cold War Season 5 – Double Agent Game Mode

Season 5 is due to launch for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone next week, on thge 12th of August. Thus far, Treyarch has only teased the new content that’s on the way, without releasing any concrete details. The same can be said for Double Agent; while today’s new teaser trailer shows the mode in action and gives players a sense of how it will work, the studio has not released written details explaining it fully as of yet.

Double Agent is a new game mode for Black Ops Cold War which will be arriving with the launch of Season 5. The fact that Treyarch has released a dedicated trailer for it should tell players how big the studio hopes this mode will be; no other post-launch game mode in Black Ops Cold War has ever received its own teaser trailer.

Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War Double Agent Game Mode Season 5

The new mode appears to be an investigative mode with cues from other popular mystery games like Trouble in Terrorist Town, Among Us, etc.; i.e. one or more players are secretly a “double agent” trying to take down the rest of the team, while the innocent team members try to figure out who the double agent is. The other players also take on roles as either Operatives or Investigators. The trailer emphasises the role of direct player communication throughout; players will need to ask questions, check in with one another, and share information if they want to catch the villain.

Beyond that, little else is known for sure about how Double Agent will work. However, if Treyarch is planning for the mode to be a headline feature of Season 5, it’s likely that more details will emerge closer to launch.
