Twitch Streamer VoldemartLive Reportedly Lost $15,000 in RuneScape Gold Live

Last month, we posted about Twitch streamers winning millions in an online crypto casino. But let’s face it—not every story has such a happy ending. One Twitch Streamer called VoldemartLive had a really bad day on RuneScape recently. How bad? Try $15,000 in lost funds worth of bad.

What Happened During the VoldemartLive Live Stream?

The $15,000 loss happened while VoldemartLive was streaming a few weeks ago. The streamer went into the Duel Arena. In his inventory was apparently 30 billion in RuneScape gold. That amount is equal to roughly $15,000 USD. Why did he do such a thing? Well, some people have some guesses about that. But we will get to that later.

It was bad enough that he died in the arena and lost all that money. But to add insult to injury, he didn’t last more than 15 seconds. Almost instantly, he began freaking out. And almost as soon as it began … it was over. He did not seem like he even really fought back. He just yelled.

In the video, the streamer’s wife and toddler can be seen in the background, watching as the disaster unfolds. As you can imagine, the loss of the money led to some pretty intense reactions. His wife covered her mouth, staggered by what happened. As to VoldemartLive himself, he initially left the view of the camera. When he returned, he destroyed his controller. The poor kid saw the whole thing before his mother removed him from the room.

Questions Still Abound About the Event

So, did it really happen? Did this streamer actually lose $15,000 in under 15 seconds? As with any such dramatic occurrence on Twitch, it is hard to take what we see at face value. A lot of people are wondering whether the family just faked the whole thing.

There are valid arguments in both directions. On one hand, it seems bizarre that anyone in their right mind would casually walk into the arena with so much to lose. Could it be that in reality, he actually traded the 30 billion gold away, and then staged the loss as part of a duel to hide it?

What are the arguments that it was real? For one thing, the player who killed him has also claimed billions of gold from others (then again, that might be suspect too). There are also people who point out that surely the toddler could have been traumatized by the event, and what parent would plan on raging in front of their child? But let’s face it—plenty of parents wouldn’t bat an eye at such poor behavior.

So, at this juncture, we do not feel it is possible to confidently say that the event was real or staged. Chances are good we will never find out. Regardless, VoldemartLive would do well to consider buying some RuneScape gold if he has any real money left over. And hopefully, if it was real, his wife won’t leave him for walking into the arena with $15,000 without telling her first.

What’s the lesson in all of this? Well, if you want to fight in the arena, for the love of all things good and holy, do not waltz in there with thousands of dollars in your inventory. And if you want to make billions of RuneScape gold disappear, put a little more effort into making it look like you fought back in your duel.

If you are smart, you never have to lose $15,000 playing a game. Enjoy RuneScape, and check back in with us soon for more news about this and other MMORPGs.
