How to Unlock Far Cry 5’s Alien Weapon: The Magnopulser

Far Cry 5 features a wide array of different firearms and other weapons of destruction. However, one implement stands out for both its sheer power and bizarre design; the Magnopulser. A unique weapon that can only be found by completing a specific set of side missions; this science-fiction firearm unleashes devastating vacuum waves capable of turning enemies to bloody paste.

Once you unlock this unique weapon, Far Cry 5’s Magnopulser becomes available in all of the game’s gun stores. The firearm sends its targets flying and even vaporizes those unfortunate enough to get too close, leaving just a gory red mist. It is worth noting that vaporizing a target means that you will be unable to loot their body, although they will still drop their weapon.

Unlocking Far Cry 5’s Magnopulser

To get started on the path to unlocking the Magnopulser, begin by travelling to Holland Valley. In Hope County’s rural heartland, you should travel to an outlying house to the west of Fall’s End. Speaking to NPCs in and around the town is likely to put a “Larry Parker” side mission marker on the map. When you arrive at Larry’s house, go around to the back of the house, where you will find the eccentric scientist trapped inside a large machine by arcs of electricity. Follow his directions and switch off the three generators powering the device.

Once you’ve freed Larry, he will send you to destroy five satellite dishes. The dishes are located at the top of a tower guarded by a small group of cultists, a short distance from Larry’s house. The scientist is convinced that they are being used by ‘them’ to spy on your conversations. After you climb to the top and begin to destroy the dishes, Larry will arrive in a helicopter. Use a grapnel to climb up into the helicopter and destroy the final dishes.

When Larry returns you to his house, you find the place overrun by cultists. Clear them out, and then Larry will send you off again. This time, your objective is an electrical station. Here, Larry tasks you with activating five transformer switches. This will route the local power to his house in order to power his machine. When you activate the first switch, an alarm will sound. Cultists will arrive shortly after, so aim to flip all five switches as quickly as possible.

When you return to Larry’s house, the mad scientist will order you to activate his “teleportation machine.” What happens next is certainly spectacular, but suffice to say that the side mission ends there. You can now collect the Magnopulser, which will be lying inside the machine, and a unique clothing item – Larry’s shoes.
