During this year’s E3 event, publisher Paradox Interactive showed off the first proper gameplay for Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. The extended trailer functions as both a story-based highlights reel and a real-time gameplay demo. As the trailer explains, the player will take on the role of a newly-turned “Thinblood” vampire in modern-day Seattle. However, the player can’t just go out and cause indiscriminant chaos with their newfound powers. Vampire factions like the Ventrue and Brujah clans lord over certain parts of the city. If the player starts causing trouble on their turf, those clans will react swiftly.

Instead, the player should focus on making allies and moving up the vampire hierarchy. In the trailer, the player ventures to a nightclub called Atrium to meet the club’s owner, a female vampire. Atrium’s owner has a request to make of the player: find another Thinblood named Slug. Once the player tracks Slug down, they need to get some information from him using whatever methods they deem necessary.

Unsurprisingly, Slug refuses to come quietly once the player does locate him. The trailer shows a fair bit of combat, revealing that players can use unarmed combat, melee weapons, and even firearms. After dispatching some Thinblood goons, players can decide how they want to handle Slug. In true RPG fashion, players will have a number of choices dependant on their character’s specific skill makeup. They can kill Slug, let him go, or find a friendly middle-ground between the two.

Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 doesn’t yet have a specific release date. However, Paradox plans on releasing the upcoming sequel sometime in early 2020. Stay tuned for more Bloodlines 2 coverage in the near future.
