Verdansk Breaks Apart in Call of Duty: Warzone Season 6

With the launch of Season 6 in Call of Duty: Warzone next week, the game’s core map is about to undergo some dramatic geological changes. Fissures will split the land apart all across the map, carving deep gullies through several major landmarks, and revealing new subterranean bunkers!

“Adler’s actions while AWOL led to Verdansk being leveled,” explains Treyarch; “significantly altering areas of the central city and revealing previously undiscovered bunkers packed with stockpiles of WWII-era German bombs and armaments.”

The biggest change coming in Season 6 is, indeed, the new fissures which will be opening up across Verdansk. These will be particularly noticeable in the Downtown and Stadium areas – the latter has been completely cut in two! This has caused the cranes to come crashing down onto the pitch, introducing much more obstacles and cover. In Downtown, the earthquake has brought entire buildings down, including the marquee hotel. While this has lowered the vertical options in this area, it has opened up new subterranean routes.

Indeed, the fissures will provide access to several new sites; WWII-era bunkers that were previously unknown, lying deep underground. These bunkers provide players with a new network of subterranean routes and halls to loot – providing they can find a way inside. Another Warzone change coming in Season 6 is a new Gulag layout. This season, the layout is inspired by the original 2019 Gulag layout, with elements of the Gunfight variant of that map from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

Finally, players should be aware that Regiments will be frozen ahead of the launch of Season 6. This freeze will take place on the 6th of October. This is because a new Clan system designed to replace Regiments will be coming later this year. The freeze is to streamline the transition from Regiments to the new system. As such, after the 6th of October, players will no longer be use most of the Regiment features. Activision has yet to announce a release date for this system. (Other than that it will release before the end of the year.)
