What Did I Just Listen? The DOOM Soundtrack Parody Is Really Something

The creativity with everything regarding the DOOM franchise always seemed to amaze me, but this is something entirely different. After all the bizarre DOOM mods, someone had a different way to approach the collection of everything-related-to-DOOM. This time, the soundtrack of DOOM received a minor change that is not exactly far from the original sound.

The DOOM 32x soundtrack was something special back in 1996. If you recall, DOOM 32x is the ported version of DOOM to the Sega Genesis. Back then, the Genesis had a terrible YM2612 FM synthesis chip that made the original DOOM soundtrack sound a lot different. And that is what someone decided to take advantage of and make the sound even more disturbing.

The YouTube user Morgan Edens made a parody of the tampered DOOM 32x soundtrack to point out just how awful the sound was. He replaced the song with fart sounds. Yes, you read that correctly. And that is not even the problem here. The weirdest thing is that it actually does not sound a lot different from the original tampered DOOM 32x on Sega Genesis.

In reality, the Sega Genesis DOOM port had many issues overall, and the soundtrack was the least of the players’ worries. Various sounds were missing from the game as well. Even some monster and demons were also missing, such as Spectre, Spiderdemon, and Cyberdemon. The only decent thing in there was the fact that you could play all 15 levels of the original game in a chronological way. At least, this parody is a funny way to address all these issues that were never solved anyway.

Check the parody out and see the similarities for yourselves. It is amazing how close to the ridiculous ported soundtrack it is. You can find it here. If you do not remember the Sega Genesis soundtrack, though, you can listen to it here.
