What to Expect from the New Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Grind Mode

To mark the start of 2020, Infinity Ward is bringing back another classic game mode to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare. The new Modern Warfare Grind mode follows other recent modes added during Season One, including Cranked and Drop Zone, for example. Although long-term fans might be very familiar with Grind, there have been a few changes in its latest iteration.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Grind Game Mode

Previously known as Grind, Stockpile, or Fracture, the Grind game mode has appeared in various forms as far back as Call of Duty: Ghosts. However, at its core, the new Modern Warfare Grind mode combines elements of both Hardpoint and Kill Confirmed. Just like in the latter, you must confirm your kills by claiming dog tags from fallen enemies, and you have to score these at a specific objective site. However, this objective will move around the map as you play, making it more of a challenge to score your kills.

While you can carry as many dog tags as you want at any given time, holding multiple tags can be very risky. After all, not only will you lose out on scoring them all if you die, but you also drop all of your tags when you die. That means that your killer could find themselves with a veritable hoard of dog tags, giving the opposing team a major windfall. Bear in mind that dog tags don’t distinguish between teams, so if you see a teammate go down, you can absolutely pick up their tag yourself before the enemy can get to it.

It is precisely because of this fact that teamwork is so important in Grind. By working together in small groups, you can snap up dog tags before the enemy get close enough to seize them, thus denying your opponents a means of scoring. Indeed, bear in mind that the last player standing in a skirmish is likely to walk away with a haul of dog tags, taken from fallen friends and foes alike.
