What to Expect From the New Modern Warfare Hardhat Map

Season 3 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is still ongoing, and it seems that Infinity Ward haven’t run out of new content just yet. The game’s latest update brought yet another multiplayer map to the game, entitled ‘Hardhat‘. The map is another in Infinity Ward’s list of redesigned maps from past Modern Warfare games, coming from 2011’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Hardhat Map

Set in and around a dense construction site full of concrete pipes and shipping containers, the new Modern Warfare Hardhat map is very similar – though not identical – to its first appearance in MW3’s first campaign mission. In its new iteration, Hardhat takes place in London. At the start of the match, Coalition Operators spawn in the offices on the northwest side. Meanwhile, Allegiance players spawn in the southeast corner among the shipping containers, with the central building set squarely between them.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Hardhat Map What to Expect

Overall, Hardhat is divided between thirteen map zones. Eleven of these form a ring around the central structure, where players can find zones 6 and 8; the Centre Building and Pipes areas, respectively. Because the centre offers the shortest route to the enemy spawn, expect these two Zones to be where the fiercest fighting takes place. To make matters worse, the number of points of entry to these two zones are very limited. (Not to mention the lack of long-range sightlines.) As a result, short-range weapons and grenades will thrive here. Note though that Zone 6 does provide access to a single vantage point which serves as a valuable sniping position to pick off enemies outside.

Because Hardhat is a construction site, there are plenty of temporary plywood walls dotted around the map. While these may block line of sight, they won’t necessarily block bullets. As such, remember that just because you can’t see your opponents doesn’t mean you can’t score a lucky kill through a thin wall. (Or indeed, pin down your enemies by laying down suppressive fire through just such a wall.)
