Fortnite Battle Royale players just witnessed one of the most memorable live events. However, as amazing as the event was, players are currently stuck on a downtime screen. The screen shows players floating in the ocean and many of them are confused and don’t know what is going on.
Thanks to the popularity of the game, many players started playing in Chapter 2, and this is why they don’t know what’s happening. However, this is simply a downtime between two chapters, similar to the Black Hole back in Chapter 1. If you are not sure what it means, keep reading.
UPDATE (December 5): Many leakers claim that we will get the new chapter on December 5. The downtime should end around 10 AM Eastern Time when we will load into the new world.
What exactly is happening with Fortnite?
Epic Games always takes servers down between seasons. Sometimes it’s just a few hours, but sometimes it’s for a day or longer. The longest downtime happened between Season X and Chapter 2 – Season 1 as servers were down for 36 hours. This time, the downtime could be even longer.
At the moment, servers are stuck on a downtime screen and no one knows when exactly the new chapter will come. However, considering that most updates come out on Tuesdays, we can expect the downtime to end on December 7. If this ends up being the right prediction, it will be the longest downtime in Fortnite history.
Players cannot interact with the downtime screen, it simply servers as a placeholder. According to leakers, there will be several items that will float on the screen, including the Rift-to-Go and the Zapotron. Furthermore, there will be a Spider-Man backpack in the water too. These are the items that will most likely be added to the game in Chapter 3.
Is it coming back soon?
There are some rumors that Fortnite servers will return on Sunday, December 5, but nothing has been confirmed yet. Epic Games has never revealed the duration of any downtime, so there will be a lot of false rumors.
It is very likely that Chapter 3 will be released on Tuesday. After all, Epic originally planned to end the chapter on December 5. However, the developers probably need more time to get everything ready and release the new map and the new chapter the right way. On the other side, the developer might change things and make Sunday an update day!
