The Witcher Netflix Series is Still the Biggest Series in the World
When Netflix first released The Witcher, the series quickly rose to dominate among streaming audiences, becoming the most in-demand series in the world. (And dethroning Disney’s The Mandalorian in the process.) Now, months after release, the series is still the most in-demand series globally, across all platforms!
Demand for The Witcher Netflix Series is Still Extremely High
The Witcher Netflix series has now held the title of “most in-demand series” for two months, despite a slow decline in audience figures. This metric, which is determined by Parrot Analytics, is a measure of “demand expressions”; a standard measurement which accounts for viewership and online engagement both. The Mandalorian has been a formidable challenger to The Witcher in the last seven weeks. Indeed, it has actualy overtaken The Witcher in US-only audience-demand rankings. However, The Witcher’s enduring popularity overseas has kept it in the top spot overall.
In recent weeks, Netflix has released a variety of supplementary content relating to The Witcher. The studio released a 3-part behind-the-scenes audio podcast, for example, focusing on how the team brought Geralt, Yennefer, and Ciri to life. They also released the soundtrack, along with the single, “Toss a Coin to Your Witcher“. Netflix has also announced Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf, an upcoming animated film due out later this year. However, they haven’t yet released any details beyond the title as of yet. Interestingly, the show’s release has also spurred a dramatic rise in gamers returning to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The game broke a new record for most concurrent players shortly after the launch of the Netflix series.
