WWE 2K20 Cover: 5 Predictions for Superstars Who Could Be The Cover Star

On Wednesday, fans of the WWE 2K series finally got just a bit of news from the game makers themselves. They’ve teased the WWE 2K20 cover is on the way next week, as well as a major reveal of new game details. Ahead of next Monday’s cover reveal, we have five superstars to consider as possible WWE 2K20 cover star. They range from rumored and likely to happen, to surprising and less likely to happen. So let’s dive into these predictions.

Top rumor: Becky Lynch as WWE 2K20 cover star

There’s been an ongoing rumor for weeks about the WWE 2K20 cover star being “The Irish Lass Kicker” Becky Lynch. This seems to be a pretty strong piece of speculation and makes a lot of sense. She headlined this past April’s WrestleMania 35 along with Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey. Ultimately, Becky captured both the WWE Raw and SmackDown Women’s titles.

Having Becky appear on front would be groundbreaking. It would mark the first time ever that a female WWE superstar got the spot. It would be well-deserved not just for Lynch but for the entire “Women’s Revolution” which has made strides and history over the past several years now.

2K Tease: Will the Beast appear on the front?

Wednesday’s WWE 2K20 cover and details tease featured none other than “The Beast” Brock Lesnar. It’s most likely a swerve and a heel move from WWE 2K, to try to rile up fans ahead of the actual cover reveal. Brock tends to be a guy who upsets a lot of fans, just based on his lack of participation when he has a major title.

However, it’s hard to argue against why WWE might put him on the WWE 2K20 cover. He’s been a dominant champion and with his recent Money in the Bank cash in to regain the Universal title, is probably going to keep the belt through the game’s release. WWE will be moving to Fox to show off their SmackDown show, and Brock may be the face of that new look program.

Therefore, the promotional aspect could make sense for WWE in the coming months. And, yes, it would definitely irritate a lot of fans. There’s also the fact he was the 2K17 cover star. So all of those reasons make it seem less likely they’d put him on the cover if they want to sell copies of the game.

ESPY winner Roman Reigns, first time cover

There’s no doubt that Roman Reigns was an inspirational headline maker over the past year. He announced that his leukemia was back and he decided to leave WWE to focus on that fight and his family. He eventually beat it back to become cancer-free and returned to the WWE in a triumphant moment.

That led to Reigns becoming one of this year’s 2019 ESPYS nominees alongside several other WWE stars, including Lynch. Reigns picked up the win and is inspiring others. He’s also part of the Hobbs & Shaw film with The Rock arriving in theaters soon, putting him in promotional mode. It wouldn’t be surprising if he also graces the WWE 2K20 cover for the first time in his career. He’d be the next in line of great superstars following the likes of AJ Styles, Seth Rollins, and John Cena.

Mixture of WWE superstars

WWE 2K could choose to showcase a mixture of their current superstars on the WWE 2K20 cover. For example, they could have the women’s roster featured to showcase the women’s division, and have Becky Lynch standing in front of the group. They could also opt for another arrangement.

2K could include a mixture of stars from the Raw and SmackDown rosters, both men and women. They could even have a cover featuring a number of WWE Legends. A mixture of superstars appeals to a wider number of fans. However, WWE 2K generally likes to have one specific promotional star to help sell copies. If Lynch, Reigns, or Lesnar don’t get the cover, there’s one other possibility.

The shocking cover reveal prediction

The rumors have continued over the inclusion of one superstar back in WWE programming after a hiatus. That speculation built to a fervor and eventually it produced none other than Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania 35. That means Hogan is back in the WWE’s good graces following his controversial audio remarks from several years ago. Previous WWE 2K20 rumors suggest that he will be a member of the game’s roster.

Could that mean a major surprise with a WWE 2K20 cover featuring “The Hulkster?” It would certainly make headlines, but would it be “best for business?” Probably not, although Eric Bischoff famously said, “Controversy creates cash.”

A better headline would probably be “Becky Lynch is first female WWE 2K20 cover star.” We’ll be eagerly watching on Monday, August 5 to see if this is the move that WWE 2K goes with!
