Microsoft Announces Xbox One X Battlefield 5 Bundle at Gamescom 2018

During the course of Gamescom 2018, Microsoft took the opportunity to announce a number of new or upcoming Xbox One X bundles. Bethesda VP Pete Hines even made an appearance on a Microsoft live-stream to announce the Fallout 76 Xbox One X bundle. Among those upcoming bundles is the “Gold Rush Special Edition” Battlefield 5 bundle.

The Xbox One X Gold Rush Special Edition Battlefield 5 Bundle

Announced at Gamescom by Microsoft, the lengthily-named “Xbox One X Gold Rush Special Edition Battlefield 5 Bundle,” is scheduled to be released on the 16th of October. Like the Fallout 76 bundle, it will release alongside the game which the Xbox One X is paired with. Another similarity is the price; both the Fallout 76 and Battlefield 5 bundles will be on sale for $499.00. However, the Gold Rush bundle appears to contain more.

The Gold Rush Battlefield 5 Bundle Features Battlefield 1943 As Well

The Xbox One X itself in the bundle features 1 TB of storage and a rather sleek outer coloring of grey fading into gold. It also comes with a wireless controller to match. Obviously, it comes with a copy of the game; in this game, the Deluxe edition of Battlefield 5. However, it also includes a copy of the newly-backwards-compatible Battlefield 1943. Beyond the physical items in the bundle, it comes with one month free subscriptions to both Xbox Game Pass and EA Access. Finally, it comes with 14 days free subscription to Xbox Live Gold.

By comparison, the Fallout 76 bundle features only the standard edition of the game. Although it boasts 1 month free for Xbox Live Gold, it has nothing for EA Access, nor does it feature any additional content. Between the two, the Gold Rush Special Edition Bundle appears to be better value for money. Given that pre-order figures for Battlefield 5 have so far been low, it’s possible that either Microsoft or EA feels the need to provide greater incentive for players to purchase the bundle.
