Journalist Says Xbox Series X Will Beat PS5 for Launch Exclusives
Microsoft has been talking a lot lately about cranking out a ton of exclusives for the next Xbox. On top of that, we’ve all watched as the company has scooped up gaming studios left and right. So, maybe it would not be surprising to hear that Xbox Series X (or “Xbox,” or whatever we are calling it now) is expected to blow PS5 out of the water when it comes to launch exclusives. But you may be surprised by just what Russian journalist Anton Logvinov has to say on the matter.
Logvinov Says PS5 Will Have No Launch Exclusives
Logvinov has reportedly made a fairly extraordinary claim regarding launch exclusives on the two next gen consoles. According to him, we can expect the next gen Xbox to launch with anywhere from 12 to 16 brand-new exclusives. PS5 on the other hand? Logvinov claims that there will be exactly zero. There will only be PS4 exclusives which have received enhancements for launch on the PS5.
So, just how likely is it that this claim is correct? Well, between Microsoft’s studio acquisitions and its ambitious plans for frequent exclusives, the claim that it will release an outpouring of exclusives at launch isn’t unreasonable, even if 12-16 does sound like a lot. But will PS5 really launch without a single new exclusive? That is harder to put stock in, given that Sony has built so much success on its exclusives in the past. Thus, we would think they wouldn’t want to shelve that strategy even a little bit. But who can say? Logvinov has been right about some things in the past and wrong about others. This, we imagine, could fall into either category.
