XFL Video Game Cover Star: Five Players Who Could Be the Game’s First Cover Athlete

With the recent return of the XFL for a 2020 season, there seems to be a good amount of interest in the rebooted football league. With that, the speculation that a video game will arrive within the next year or so has also kicked into high gear. Just recently, we reported on the XFL 2K rumors for a potential game. Should a game be announced, we have five players we feel who could make a great XFL video game cover star.

5 Players to consider for XFL video game cover star

So who gets the cover when the game happens? We think any of these players could make a great representative on front of an XFL video game based on their names and stats achieved so far.

Cardale Jones, DC Defenders – As of this report, Jones has the DC Defenders playing great football. The team’s off to a 2-0 start and many believe the former Ohio State Buckeyes QB is the biggest reason why. He’s currently leading the XFL in terms of passing yards with 511 over his first two weeks. He’s also a recognizable name and star player worth of an XFL video game cover.

PJ Walker, Houston Roughnecks – Not far behind Jones in terms of quarterback success is the Roughnecks’ Walker. He has 442 yards passing so far and has the Roughnecks sitting at 2-0 in their conference. Walker seems to have star status associated with him early on with the XFL and would gain even more recognition with a cover appearance.

Jordan Ta’amu – St. Louis BattleHawks – Yet another quarterback, but he’s a dual-threat with passing and rushing. As of this report, he’s second in the league so far in passing yards. Ta’amu is also third in rushing yards according to XFL stats. His BattleHawks are also 1-1 and have a good-sized fan base in St. Louis due to the fact it’s the former home of the NFL’s Rams. Ta’amu’s popularity could help sell a few copies, especially if he guides his team to a championship, or wins some sort of MVP award.

Nelson Spruce, LA Wildcats – We’ve mentioned three quarterbacks, but all QBs need capable wide receivers to haul in catches and score touchdowns. While the Wildcats are off to a rough 0-2 start, their receiver Nelson Spruce nearly has 200 total receiving yards. Should he continue to rack up the yards and TDs, he may make a smart candidate for the game’s cover.

Matt Jones, St. Louis BattleHawks – The BattleHawks have established a strong ground game thanks to their quarterback and running back. We already mentioned Ta’amu, but RB Matt Jones is leading the way with 129 yards rushing so far. That’s best in the XFL and should he continue, it gives him legit star power for a video game cover.

Other cover considerations for an XFL game

Depending on when it’s developed, that could play into which of the star players gets an XFL video game cover. As mentioned above, if they hand out a Most Valuable Player or Top Player award by the end of the season, that could be a factor. Fans saw Patrick Mahomes named Madden 20 cover athlete after his MVP season.

Also, if a certain player helps guide his team to a championship, that could make them a household name. With the season only two weeks deep, other players could emerge as the biggest stars.

A game cover could also feature a montage of two teams competing in the 2020 XFL Championship game. Another consideration is a cover showing off stars from all eight of the teams. Instead of one star, it could be a collage of player images. That would draw attention to the league itself and the eight teams competing in 2020.

No matter who is featured on the XFL video game cover, plenty of fans out there ready for a game. Let’s hope it drops sooner, rather than much later.
