New Total War: ROME II – Enemy at the Gates Edition Now Available

Although Creative Assembly might have its focus on DLC content for both Total War: Warhammer 2 and Total War: Three Kingdoms, alongside the upcoming Total War Saga: Troy, the studio has now revealed an upcoming re-release of one of its older titles. The Total War: ROME II – Enemy at the Gates Edition is now available from select retailers and comes with all the updates, DLC releases, and content expansions to have launched since the game’s release in 2013.

The Total War: ROME II – Enemy at the Gates Edition

“Total War: ROME II – Enemy at the Gates is the definitive edition of ROME II,” writes Creative Assembly; “It includes the original game and its greatest expansion packs, allowing you to immerse yourself in the multi award-winning strategy classic and forge an empire that will echo throughout history.”

Specifically, the Enemy at the Gates edition includes the base game and 3 major campaign expansion packs. The Imperator Augustus pack adds a new campaign set in 42 BC, focusing on the Roman civil war following the murder of Julius Caesar. The Hannibal at the Gates pack, from which the edition takes its name, takes place during the 2nd Punic War. This pack focuses on the conflict between Rome and Carthage and the rivalry between Hannibal and Scipio. Finally, the Empire Divided pack jumps to 270 AD to focus on the so-called ‘Crisis of the Third Century,’ as the Roman Empire split into three rival states.

Total War Rome II - Enemy at the Gates Edition Announced 2

Of course, the version of the game in Enemy at the Gates also includes all of the most recent game updates. This includes, for instance, the Power and Politics Update, which introduced a major overhaul of the game’s political system. The Ancestral Update, meanwhile, introduced the Family Tree and new character mechanics. The Enemy at the Gates edition is only available as a physical copy from select retailers. It features brand-new box art by Marius Kozik.

In fact, SEGA recently announced that all of their games’ retail editions will now use 100% recycled (and recyclable) packaging. Specifically, they are replacing the industry-standard plastic game box with a cardboard sleeve, printed with vegetable and water-based ink. Enemy at the Gates is the first game to release with this new type of packaging.
