NBA 2K22 Patch Update 1.6 Notes Reveal Current-Gen Fixes and Additions

2K released a new NBA 2K22 patch update on Wednesday, November 3, bringing with it improvements and tweaks for the basketball video game. The update, labeled 1.6, included one fix to address the “ghost” charging and blocking issue in the game. There are also a few noteworthy adjustments or additions for MyPlayer, MyTeam, and the reigning NBA champions, the Milwaukee Bucks.

What does NBA 2K22 patch update 1.6 include?

On Wednesday, gamers with current-gen versions of 2K’s basketball sim received an update notification upon trying to play the game. That brought NBA 2K22 patch update 1.6 which was rather large in size, coming in at over 28 gigabytes on the PlayStation 4.

The latest update will help those gamers who are playing MyCareer with their MyPlayer and want to attain the Rebirth Reward or Gym Rat Badge. With patch update 1.6, both of these are still attainable for gamers who complete the requirements. Check out our guide for Rebirth Reward to see what that involves.

In addition, a major issue was addressed where ghost charging and/or blocking fouls happened during gameplay. With the update, there is “tightened collision detection” which should prevent this from happening. There was also an invisible player(s) issue happening in 2K’s MyTeam due to custom jerseys. Patch update 1.6 should resolve this so those players will display properly.

Lastly, the NBA champs are getting the respect they deserve. According to the patch notes, the Milwaukee Bucks’ 2020-21 NBA Championship banners are officially raised in Fiserv Forum.

The video below presents an overview of what all has changed with the latest 2K update.

The patch update is the latest to arrive for the game since October 20th. That’s when 2K dropped a pretty big Patch Update 1.5 for current-gen and 1.7 for next-gen consoles, just ahead of 2K’s Season 2 in various game modes.

How to make sure game is updated for PS4, Xbox One

The NBA 2K22 patch update is likely to automatically start once you go to play the game on your specific console. Of note, the update may prevent you from playing certain modes of the game as it downloads, and could take a bit of time due to its size.

It’s also possible to apply the update manually. To do so for PlayStation 4, click the Options button on the PS4 controller while on the NBA 2K22 game icon on your PS4 home screen. Choose “Check for updates” and follow any instructions to apply the update.

On the Xbox One, press the Xbox button on your controller to open the guide. From there, select “Mygames & apps > See all.” On the list of games, select “Filter > Xbox One X Enhanced > Done.” All of the games showing there are updated. You might also see “Updates” or “Ready to Install” on the side area, and NBA 2K22 could be there unless it was automatically installed.
