A Fan-Favorite Map Might Be Making Its Return In Call of Duty: Black Ops 4

Rumor has it that one of the most iconic maps in the Call of Duty franchise might be making a return this fall in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. According to a tease on Twitter, Nuketown might have a role to play in the upcoming title, however, no further information has been given.

Treyarch’s Game Design Director, David Vonderhaar has hinted that Nuketown might be making a return through a cryptic tweet, teasing that a fourth installment of the map might be coming. Answering to a heartfelt tweet of a Treyarch developer, he said:

Remember that time you made Nuketown. Oh. Right. Remember that 2nd and 3rd and …

Nuketown is an iconic multiplayer map featured in the original Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty Online with a heavy emphasis on extremely close-quarters combat. The map has been remade and featured in Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 with unchanged layout but different aesthetics.

That marks three different times that Nuketown has been developed by Treyarch, just like Vonderhaar stated. That means that the “and…” might be teasing a fourth time the map will be coming to the franchise, this time in Call of Duty: Black Ops 4.

We still don’t know in what form we’ll see the map implemented in Call of Duty Black Ops 4, if that is actually happening. It might be coming as a revamped multiplayer map along with other similar ones as players who tried out the game have hinted.

However, it might be something else entirely and see it as a place set in Blackout, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’s battle royale mode. In its reveal trailer, it’s stated that the Blackout map will feature iconic Call of Duty places so it’s fair to say that this too is a possibility.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is releasing this fall on October 12th on Playstation 4, Xbox One and PC. Its PC version won’t be available on Steam but instead you’ll be able to find it on Battle.net along with Blizzard’s games and Destiny 2.
