Chilling A Plague Tale: Innocence Launch Trailer Releases

As A Plague Tale: Innocence launches tomorrow, Asobo Studio has now released a new launch trailer to accompany it. A Plague Tale: Innocence Launch Trailer Now Available

Launching tomorrow, on the 14th of May, A Plague Tale: Innocence is the first new IP to come from Asobo Studio; a French studio which, during the late 2000s, mostly developed Pixar movie tie-in games and console ports. In more recent years, Asobo assisted Comcept and Armature Studio in developing ReCore, and also partnered with Microsoft to develop several different ports. A Plague Tale will be Asobo’s first game fully developed by the studio for quite some years. Indeed, thus far it is looking to be a successful debut, with early reviews already leaning towards positive scores.

“Embark on a dark adventure through a war-torn, medieval France,” reads the launch trailer description, in its story premise; “relentlessly pursued by the Inquisition and never-ending hordes of ravenous rats. A Plague Tale: Innocence tells a grim and emotional story, with gameplay blending action and adventure. Follow Amicia and her little brother Hugo, as they attempt to survive a harsh, brutal world plagued by war and the Black Death. On the run from the Inquisition and surrounded by unnatural swarms of rats, the siblings’ rocky journey will not leave them unscathed.”

A Plague Tale Innocence Launch Trailer

Asobo Studio has certainly not chosen an easy story to tell for their debut new IP. The story premise promises a brutal portrayal of the horrors of war and plague in medieval France. Certainly, A Plague Tale doesn’t look as though it will shy away from any of that horror; it appears to focus fully on the emotional trauma which the protagonists will suffer. Additionally, as the player character is a child, players will not be able to rely on combat. Instead, Amicia will use stealth and a sling, with a variety of alchemical tools, to escape her pursuers and evade the endless rats. Gamers will get their first chance to play A Plague Tale: Innocence tomorrow. As such, it’s impossible to know how the game will perform as of yet. However, thus far it looks likely to get a positive reception.
