Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event Announced

Just a week after the start of Apex Legends Season 3, Respawn has announced the season’s first event. Seemingly wanting to hit the ground running, as it were, Respawn will be launching the Apex Legends Fight or Fright collection event; an event in the same vein as Iron Crown and Voidwalker.

The Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event

The Apex Legends Fight or Fright Collection Event will begin on the 15th of October and run until the 5th of November. The key feature of this event is a limited time mode called Shadowfall, which will return the Kings Canyon map to the game, albeit with a difference; the map will take place entirely at night. The event will also include special challenges with “free earnable cosmetics, including two Legendary Weapon Skins”.

“Darkness descends on Kings Canyon in Shadowfall, a warped version of the Apex Games hosted by a mysterious figure,” teases Respawn; “At the start of a match, you and 34 other solo players will drop into an eerily-lit Kings Canyon and fight to the death… with a dark twist. Once you die you will respawn as an undead version of your Legend and join the powerful ‘Shadow Squad’.”

Players who respawn in the Shadow Squad lose their weapons and legend abilities; they can only attack in melee, although their melee attack power is greatly increased. Furthermore, they receive boosts to jump speed and movement, the ability to climb walls, and infinite respawns via sky-dive. Once ten living Legends remain in the game, those players join forces and must escape in an evac ship before the Shadow Squad kills them all.

Like Iron Crown and Voidwalker, Fight or Fright will also include a host of premium cosmetics (24 to be exact). However, as in Voidwalker, players will be able to get these cosmetics in three different ways. Firstly, they can get them by purchasing them directly with Apex Coins. They can also unlock them with Crafting Metals, or get them as a random unlock in Event Apex Packs. There won’t be any Event Currency this time around, however. Instead, this currency has been replaced by general loot drops (i.e. non-event drops). This means that players should get more loot overall. Finally, if a player unlocks all 24 of these cosmetics, they’ll unlock Lifeline’s Heirloom set for free.
