Apex Legends Season 3 – Meltdown – Begins Tomorrow

Meltdown, the third season for Apex Legends, will officially begin tomorrow on the 1st of October. Respawn have already released both a cinematic trailer and a gameplay trailer showing off their upcoming content; a long-awaited new Legend, Crypto, along with a new weapon and, of course, the introduction of the game’s first new map; the ice-and-fire-themed World’s Edge.

What’s Coming in Apex Legends Season 3

Apex Legends Season 3 is already shaping up to be a bigger event than the launch of the second season. Not only is there more content coming this time around, but the game’s second (and better-polished) Ranked Series will start at the same time, and Respawn seems to be pushing marketing for the game more. Mid-October will see the release of retail editions of Apex Legends for the first time, for example, even though the game is free-to-play. (The retail editions actually include exclusive cosmetics and in-game currency, not the game itself.)

Apex Legends Season 3 Launch Tomorrow

Crypto, the new Legend coming in Meltdown, is also a character whom fans have long been awaiting. First revealed through data-mining months ago, Crypto will be the third Legend to come to the game post-launch. The addition of a new Legend, of course, gives fans new ways to play, as does the Charge Rifle; a new weapon arriving in Season 3. However, the biggest factor which is likely to draw players to Apex Legends for this new season is World’s Edge; the huge and exciting new map.

Featuring both frozen areas and lava flows, building sites and a moving train, World’s Edge will be the first new map to come to Apex Legends since launch. Until now, the game has only had its single map, King’s Canyon. Although that map has had a few reworks, it still remains something which fans are very familiar with. World’s Edge, on the other hand, is totally new. With the fiasco of the Iron Crown event behind Respawn, prospects look good for a successful Apex Legends Season 3 launch. While the game is unlikely to ever reach the heights it attained upon its release (where huge player-counts were bolstered by a variety of unique factors), Season 3’s content looks to be heading in the right direction to keep players coming back for more.
