Apex Legends Season 4 Features Forge, an All-New Legend

Earlier today, Respawn released the first details about Apex Legends Season 4 in their first 2020 devstream. Alongside new login gifts for players to celebrate the game’s one-year anniversary, Season 4 will feature a map rework, a new weapon, and Forge; an all-new Legend. Forge seems to be the polar opposite of Crypto, the last new Legend which came to the game.

Forge and More Coming in Apex Legends Season 4

Apex Legends Season 4 will be launching on the 4th of February, 2020, the same day that marks the game’s one-year anniversary. While exact details have yet to be released regarding the new content, Respawn have at least now confirmed what fans can expect to see in Assimilation. (The name of the new season.) Of course, the headline new feature is the addition of a new Legend.

Apex Legends Season 4 New Legend Forge Announced

“Confident yet humble,” writes Respawn; “Forge uses his size, strength, and heavy-duty Shatter Gauntlets to batter his opponents into submission”. The studio has yet to make clear what Forge’s abilities will be in-game, although it certainly sounds as though he could have melee-centric abilities, using these so-called ‘Shatter Gauntlets’. However, the studio has revealed a few things about the character’s backstory and what sets him apart from the existing characters. According to Respawn, Forge is a; “five-time Hyper Fighting Federation champion,” who is shifting from MMA fighting to competing in the Apex Games.

Interestingly, Forge will also be the first corporate-sponsored competitor in the Apex Games, as he is sponsored by Hammond Robotics. This defence contractor appeared in Titanfall as an ally of the IMC, and was responsible for developing and manufacturing many of their Titans, Marvins, and Spectres. According to Respawn, Hammond Robotics may have a role to play in an upcoming map rework. Season 4 will feature a major map rework for World’s Edge, which has yet to be revealed. Given the title of the season ‘Assimilation,’ perhaps Hammond Robotics are attempting to gain influence over the Apex Games?
