The Apex Legends War Games ‘Armor Regen’ Mode is Now Live

Apex Legends War Games is almost over, and as the two-week-long event nears its conclusion, its last playlist takeover is now available to play. Armor Regen is the fifth and final game mode to feature in War Games; a mode where players constantly regenerate damage to their armor.

Apex Legends War Games Takeover #5 – Armor Regen

Earlier today, the Killing Time playlist takeover mode ended, and Armor Regen began in its place. This mode ‘modifier’ will be active in all regular games of Apex until the War Games event ends on the 27th of April. In this final mode, all players regenerate their armor at a rate of 12 points every second. However, that’s just the initial premise; there are a number of caveats attached to the mode to make it a little harder than it sounds.

Apex Legends War Games Armor Regen Mode Now Live 2

The first of these is a timer. After taking damage to your armor, it won’t start to regenerate that damage for 8 seconds. This means that if you get involved in a hectic firefight, your armor is unlikely to start regenerating until you get out of it and away from immediate danger. In fact, if your armor gets cracked, that timer doubles to 16 seconds. Players who can get away from their enemies for long enough can start to recover. Similarly, attacking players should beware letting their foes escape, as they may come back just as tough as before!

The other caveat in Armor Regen is that Shield Cells have been completely removed from the loot pool. You won’t find any around the map. This means that players will have to rely more heavily on their armor in battle, rather than being able to recharge their shield. In all likelihood, this will encourage an alternate style of play when it comes to protracted engagements. However, given that the mode will only be available for a few days, it’s unknown whether players will really have enough time for new strategies to sink in.
