Baldur’s Gate 3 Gameplay Reveal Coming Tomorrow at PAX East

Fans of classic RPGs have a lot to be excited about this week, as tomorrow, Larian Studios will be unveiling the World Gameplay Reveal of Baldur’s Gate 3. The first new game in the Baldur’s Gate series in twenty years was announced back in 2019, and is being developed by the studio who made Divinity: Original Sin and its subsequent sequel; both award-winning homages to the classic RPG style of Baldur’s Gate.

Tomorrow’s Baldur’s Gate 3 Gameplay Reveal

Larian Studios will be showing off the Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay reveal live at PAX East tomorrow, starting at 15:30 EST. Of course, if you aren’t attending the event, the reveal will also be available to watch on YouTube via livestream. The studio teased that the event will also feature a “special guest,” but it’s currently unknown who that might be. At present, fans know very little about Baldur’s Gate 3. The studio has been very quiet about the upcoming game since its announcement prior to E3 2019.

Earlier this week, Hasbro (the company which owns the Baldur’s Gate franchise), revealed that Baldur’s Gate 3 would be launching in Early Access at some point later this year. This suggests that Larian Studios will be following a similar development schedule to that which they followed with the Divinity: Original Sin games. Of course, launching in Early Access allows them to gather more fan feedback prior to the full release. That’s likely a wise plan for a beloved classic franchise like Baldur’s Gate; after all, it has a very special place in the history of role-playing video games.

Gamers can now expect Baldur’s Gate 3 to launch sometime this year in Early Access. However, it’s currently unknown what the game’s full release date will be after that. It’s possible that it doesn’t have one yet; after all, Larian Studios may take the approach of “it’ll launch when it’s ready,” and not settle on a date until gauging fan reactions from the Early Access period. For now, fans will have to wait and see. However, tomorrow’s presentation could reveal a lot of information about what to expect in the future.
