Battlefield 5 Firestorm Gameplay Footage Leaks Online

The Battlefield 5 Firestorm game mode is one of the most anticipated aspects of Battlefield 5; an ambitious battle royale mode set to feature tanks and other vehicles in DICE’s own take on the popular genre. However, Firestorm was not ready at launch, and instead, is due to release as the headline feature of the third chapter of the game’s Tides of War post-launch content schedule. However, ahead of that release, it seems that gameplay footage of Firestorm has leaked online.

The Battlefield 5 Firestorm Gameplay Leak

The leaked gameplay video appears to be a tutorial trailer or promotional video for Battlefield 5 Firestorm, found in the assets of the game’s own website. It seems likely that this video was intended to release soon as part of a promotional campaign for the upcoming game mode. The video confirms a variety of things which fans either suspected or had guessed at. The mode will be available in three versions; a solo mode, a ‘duo’ mode, and a mode which puts players into squads.

In true battle royale style, players will begin a Firestorm match by parachuting onto the map. Similarly, players will find weapons, ammo, backpacks, and other fear scattered around the huge maps. These weapons will have a rarity ranging from Common to Rare to Epic. Epic weapons will have better weapon attachments like scopes and extended magazines. When it comes to ammo, each category of weapon will have an ammo type, and players can only carry so much of each. Interestingly, players will also be able to find both objectives and safes on these maps. These give players access to Reinforcements, special loot or vehicles.

One useful feature shown in the video is the ability to share loot between squadmates via a squad menu. The video also confirms that there will be no classes in Firestorm. In a significant change to the core game, downed players will still be able to fire their sidearm, while any ally can revive you.

Will Battlefield 5 Firestorm Struggle to Compete Against Apex Legends?

Firestorm could be launching very soon; potentially within the next month or two as Lightning Strikes comes to an end. DICE has said almost nothing about the mode thus far; leaving fans to speculate about what the mode will be like. Certainly, the mode, which was seen as one of the game’s most important features, is now launching into a market where Apex Legends is performing very strongly. EA recently said that they weren’t worried about competition between the two. However, it remains to be seen if this will prove true. Given the poor sales of Battlefield 5, Firestorm is a potential means to boost sales post-launch; a new incentive to draw players to the game. However, with Apex Legends available for free, it does seem likely that Firestorm won’t attract as many players as it might otherwise have done.
