DICE has now released the first Battlefield 5 update for April, which is also the first update to make changes to the new Battlefield 5 Firestorm battle royale mode. The update tweaks safes, the Flare Gun, and a variety of bugs. Of course, it also includes some tweaks and fixes for the core game too.
The Battlefield 5 Firestorm Update (Trial by Fire Update 2)
As the first update to deal directly with Battlefield 5 Firestorm; this new April update addresses a number of bugs which have been identified since launch. It also makes some general changes. For example, players will now be able to use the Flare Gun while in water, the draw distance for grenades and melee weapons has been increased, and Artillery Strikes will now get a red outline on the map. If you’re opening a safe and you cancel the interaction, the safe will now automatically reset, meaning that you’ll have to start all over again. The full details of all the new Firestorm changes can be found in the update’s official patch notes.

In addition to bug fixes and gameplay tweaks, the update also makes some adjustments to Halvøy, the Firestorm map. These including fixing a few instances of floating terrain or areas where players could get stuck. Rock wall textures in some areas have been improved. Players will also no longer be able to hide behind the waterfall near Minerva Docks.
The new Battlefield 5 update also makes some tweaks to weapons, such as fixing the aperture sights on the Ribeyrolles. The Gewehr 43 reflex sight has gotten a redesign, while the Bren gun’s max recoil is now higher. Camera recoil has also been adjusted, and single-shot weapons should now be louder. As per usual, the update also features some general stability improvements. PC players who use DLSS should also find that the option is slightly improved, and supported in borderless mode as well. Players can check the full list of changes in the update’s official patch notes.
