Bethesda Announces Elder Scrolls: Blades Closed Beta

Although Bethesda still hasn’t announced a release date for The Elder Scrolls: Blades, the studio has now announced that the game will be getting a closed beta. The announcement was made earlier today; according to Bethesda, the Elder Scrolls: Blades closed beta will come prior to the game becoming available in Early Access.

The announcement that there will be an Elder Scrolls: Blades closed beta came earlier today on Twitter. Fans have already had the ability to apply for Early Access for a while, but this will be a separate event. Players can’t apply for access – instead, Bethesda will be sending invites out on a rolling basis to gamers already signed up for Early Access. Note that the closed beta will only be available on iOS devices. The studio is still vague on the start date of this closed beta and Early Access, however; “Early Access is targeted for spring,” says the game’s FAQ“We’ll keep you updated on that timing as we get a little closer.”

Elder Scrolls Blades Closed Beta Announced

According to Bethesda, the Elder Scrolls: Blades closed beta will feature the full game. While the closed beta is only available on iOS, the Early Access period will be available on both iOS and Android devices. In a similar deviation, the Early Access will not be under NDA. However, the closed beta will be; “If you are chosen to participate in the closed beta,” explains Bethesda; “you may not post screenshots or videos, stream any part of the game, or discuss the game – online or otherwise.”

If you haven’t already signed up for Early Access, you can still do so here; putting you on the potential list for the closed beta if you have an iOS device. As a final note, Bethesda states that all “progress and purchases” during Early Access will carry over, but it’s unclear if this statement applies to the closed beta as well.
