Bethesda Teases Upcoming New Content for Fallout 76

2019 is upon us, and for Bethesda, that means new Fallout 76 content and updates. In the studio’s latest Inside the Vault blog post, Bethesda gives fans a hint at what’s coming in early 2019. The post goes into few details, but does list a few key features which players can expect to see in upcoming updates.

Bethesda’s Plans for New Fallout 76 Content in Early 2019

Since launch, Bethesda’s primary goal has been addressing the game’s many bugs. That has meant a number of major patches, with three releasing in December alone. Thus far, the studio has been able to address plenty of significant problems, but there are still plenty remaining to deal with, as players of the game will surely attest. As such, fans can expect to see more game patches coming soon; “Like our December 11 update,” explains Bethesda, referring to last month’s largest patch; “we will have a big update that will address many of the issues you’ve been providing feedback on. Full patch notes will follow soon.”

Fallout 76 Content Teased by Bethesda

In addition to updates, it seems that Bethesda may soon be ready to start adding new content to the game. While there have been some new items added to the Atom Store since release, Bethesda hasn’t yet added any significant new Fallout 76 content. It’s unknown exactly what the game’s post-launch calendar is going to look like. Bethesda has adopted a different release model for post-launch content with Fallout 76, using micro-transaction earnings to fund the development of DLC. As a result, all DLC will be free to download. Due to that change, it’s currently unknown whether the studio plans to release large expansions, as they have with previous Fallout titles, or a steady stream of smaller add-ons. (Or indeed, some measure of both.)

Whatever the case, Bethesda does tease a few upcoming features; “We’re also building an incredible list of future updates that we can’t wait to share,” says the studio; “including new quests, weekly in-game events, new Vaults opening, a new PvP mode, Player Vending and much more”. Some of these features have been mentioned in previous posts, such as the new PvP mode. As of yet, Bethesda hasn’t confirmed release dates for any upcoming new content. However, it sounds as though things could come sooner rather than later.
