Black Ops Cold War’s “80s Action Heroes” Event Starts This Week

Tomorrow, Treyarch will be launching Season 3 Reloaded across Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War and Warzone, and headlining the launch is a special event; “’80s Action Heroes”. Featuring new game modes, themed store bundles, and more, this event takes direct inspiration from both Rambo and Die Hard.

Season 3 Reloaded – The ’80s Action Heroes Event

“Get ready to take on two sets of new challenges across Black Ops Cold War and Warzone during the ’80s Action Heroes event starting May 20th,” writes Activision; “Complete both sets to unlock new Weapon Blueprints and plenty of action movie-themed customization items while the event is active.”

Along with the new challenges and event Blueprints, the new event features two new store bundles; the Die Hard and Rambo Operator Bundles. These will only be available to purchase while the event is live. Each one provides players with unique themed items, including the exclusive skins for both John Rambo and John McClane. The event will be live for one month, from the 19-20th of May (depending on your time-zone), to the 18th of June.

  • Rambo Bundle: This limited-time bundle contains Rambo (a Legendary Operator), 2 Finishing Moves, 3 Legendary Weapon Blueprints (an assault rifle, LMG, and knife), a Legendary Calling Card & Emblem, an Epic Watch, and an Epic Weapon Charm.
  • Die Hard Bundle: This second bundle contains John McClane (Legendary Operator). It also includes a Finishing Move, 3 Legendary Weapon Blueprints (an assault rifle, SMG, and tactical rifle), a Legendary Calling Card & Emblem, an Epic Watch, and an Epic Weapon Charm.

Another major feature of the event is the addition of a new building to Warzone’s Verdansk map; Nakatomi Plaza. The classic skyscraper from Die Hard will be the tallest building in Verdansk and includes five accessible floors. The structure is temporarily replacing Broadcast Tower and features its own optional missions. Players can even break open the building’s vault to steal the loot inside. Also in Verdansk, players can find ten Survival Camps, inspired by Rambo: First Blood Part II. A CIA Outpost can also be found in one of the map’s aircraft hangars.

Finally, the ’80s Action Heroes event features two limited-time modes. The first is Die Hardpoint. This Hardpoint variant gives players a series of buffs if they can eliminate multiple enemies without dying. Next week, the event will also get Rambo’s Gun Game, which adds different weapons to the standard Gun Game rotation.
