Bungie Has Fully Unveiled Destiny 2’s Solstice of Heroes Event

Destiny 2’s 1.2.3 update is now live, bringing with it a new Bounties system and additional Exotic armor buffs. However, all the excitement of the 1.2.3 update is just a prelude to what will be Destiny 2’s crowning summer achievement: a limited-time event called Solstice of Heroes that’s scheduled to begin on July 31.

Bungie outlined everything that the Solstice of Heroes event will offer in a recent blog post on its website. Within the lore of Destiny 2, the Solstice of Heroes is actually a sort of redo for the anniversary of Six Fronts, the celebration that Guardians were on their way to celebrate when Dominus Ghaul launched his surprise attack during the opening moments of the game’s main story campaign. In fact, the very first thing that players will be asked to do when they log in during the Solstice of Heroes is visit a new statue in the Tower so they can acquire a new set of the ceremonial armor they were wearing when Ghaul struck.

The initial armor set that players get from the statue won’t be very impressive, being a “Scorched” armor set with a Power Level of 240. However, by completing specific tasks during the event, players can upgrade both their armor set’s looks and Power Level three different times.

The first upgrade will bump the armor up to “Rekindled” and boost its Power Level to 340. The second upgrade will make your armor “Resplendent” and bump its Power Level up to 400 (the only method for gaining 400 Power Level armor ahead of the Forsaken expansion’s launch). The third and final upgrade won’t raise the Power Level any higher but it will grant the Masterwork property to your armor. Gaining the Resplendent armor will also unlock ornament appearances for the previous two appearances so don’t fret if you prefer the Rekindled or even default Scorched looks.

One of the armor upgrade objectives players will need to complete is undertaking and completing five “Redux” versions of standard Destiny 2 story missions. These Redux Missions will offer a greater challenge and include slight alterations to keep even veteran players on their toes. The five missions on offer will be Homecoming, Spark, Payback, 1AU, and Chosen. Leveling up at max level and completing Solstice of Heroes milestones will also grant new Solstice Engrams that contain a series of new cosmetic items, some of which you can see below.

A preview of what the Solstice Engrams will offer.

Finally, the Solstice of Heroes event will enable the final batch of triumphs for the Moments of Triumph system, allowing the most dedicated Destiny 2 players to unlock even more rewards.
