Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 4 is almost here. After releasing the full cinematic trailer for the upcoming season, Treyarch and Activision have now confirmed the final release date. Season 4 is due to begin in just three days’ time; on Thursday the 17th of June.
Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season 4
Call of Duty players can expect a major launch of new content when Season 4 begins on the 17th. Three new Operators are coming to the game, starting with Jackal, who will be available as the Tier 0 reward of the Season 4 Battle Pass. Players can also look forward to five new weapons, two of which will be part of the Battle Pass, as per usual. These will be the MG 82 Machine Gun and the C58 Assault Rifle. Later, Season 4 will feature the release of the Nail Gun (a special SMG), the OTs 9 Submachine Gun, and the Mace (a new melee weapon).
When it comes to maps, four will be coming to Black Ops Cold War in Season 4. Collateral is a new 12v12 map, available at launch, which takes place in an abandoned village in Algeria. A smaller variant of this map, Collateral Strike, is designed for 6v6 modes. Amsterdam is another map which will be available at season launch; a new 2v2 and 3v3 Gunfight map which takes place on the rooftops of the Dutch capital.
The third launch map will be Hijacked, a returning classic which first appeared in Black Ops II. The map spans the entire length of the superyacht, including both interior and exterior paths. The fourth map, which will be coming mid-season, is Rush. Another classic from Black Ops II, Rush is a paintball-themed 6v6 map.
A wealth of new content is also coming to both Warzone and Outbreak in Season 4. The latter is getting a brand-new region; a zoo overtaken by the undead. This region will feature the next major expansion of the ongoing Dark Aether storyline. Operation Excision is the name of this new quest, which will apparently be; “a narrative prologue to the next round-based map coming mid-season.”
Over in Warzone, players can look forward to new Satellite Crash Sites across the Verdansk map. Mysterious Red Doors have also appeared across the map, although their role is currently under wraps. A new Dirt Bike vehicle will be available at launch in Verdansk, while the gulag map is being replaced by a plywood reconstruction of the Hijacked map.
