The latest update for Black Ops 4 brought with it a ton of changes to Blackout and multiplayer. Of those changes, one of the most important ones is the addition of a brand new multiplayer mode. Well, sort of brand new. The update marks the return of fan-favorite Black Ops 4 Safeguard mode. It is available right now for players on the PS4 version.
The Black Ops 4 Safeguard mode is a familiar mode to players who enjoyed it in Black Ops 3. Essentially, for those who don’t know, Safeguard is an escort sort of mission. Basically, teams take turns escorting a robot from one side of the map to another. The robot typically only moves when its teammates are nearby so you have to be quick but careful, too.
When Is Black Ops 4 Safeguard Available?
It makes the Black Ops 4 Safeguard mode a challenging one that players must strategically work together for. Do you split up and have one person escort the robot while the others hide nearby and take out enemies? Or do you all escort together and hope for the best? Strategies like these are encouraged in this more mindful mode.
For better or for worse, the Black Ops 4 Safeguard mode hasn’t changed one bit in this incarnation. If you’ve played it before in Black Ops 3 then you know exactly what to expect minus the exosuits. The only downside is that, as of right now, this mode is only available to PS4 players. Once again, the exclusivity strikes again for other platforms.
If you are wanting to play the Black Ops 4 Safeguard on PC or Xbox One, you will have to wait until a week from now in order to enjoy this fan favorite mode. While a bummer for players other than PS4 ones, this is no surprise given how much content thus far has had one-week exclusivity like this.
