Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Will Feature Gunsmith Weapon Mods

Following the release of 4K gameplay footage from the upcoming Gunfight mode, Activision has revealed another Call of Duty: Modern Warfare multiplayer teaser. This time, however, the teaser focuses on customisation options; offering fans a glimpse of what will be possible with the new Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith system.

The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith Mechanics

Further details of the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Gunsmith mechanics are also available in a new post on the Activision Blog. It seems that the Gunsmith will be a very versatile array of weapon customisation options. The system will thus allow players to fine-tune their guns to be exactly how they want. The video teaser shows more than a dozen possible attachment combinations for a single assault rifle, for instance. Presumably, this amount of customisation will be standard for most of the game’s Primary Weapons.

“Gunsmithing is a robust weapon customisation option for your two main Loadout weapons:” explains Activision’s David Hodgson in the blog entry; “Each Primary and Secondary Weapon can be augmented to give you the precise type and style of firepower you require for any type of multiplayer game mode. You can customise up to five parts of each weapon, until your available slots are filled. With Assault Rifles, for example, you usually have nine areas of the weapon to augment: The Muzzle, Lasers, Optic, Stock, Rear Grip, Magazine, Underbarrel, Barrel, or a Perk. Choose wisely.”

Call of Duty Modern Warfare Gunsmith Teaser 2

Fans will presumably get a proper look at the new Gunsmith mechanics during the Multiplayer Universe Gameplay Premiere; an event which will take place on the 1st of August. The reveal live-stream will be available to watch on the Call of Duty Twitch channel. It will presumably give fans a much deeper look at multiplayer than the Gunfight live-stream event. However, it’s currently unknown exactly what Activision and Infinity Ward are planning to show off.
