Call of Duty: Warzone Hits 100 Million Players Milestone

When Call of Duty: Warzone first launched, the free-to-play game quickly rocketed in popularity, hitting 15 million players in less than a week. The game reached the 30 million player milestone shortly thereafter, just two weeks after launch. Now, Activision has announced that the battle royale title has now reached a colossal 100 million players!

Call of Duty: Warzone’s Latest Colossal Milestone

One hundred million players is a truly staggering figure, not least because it theoretically represents around 1.2% of the entire global population; an almost unheard of figure for a non-mobile title. To celebrate the milestone, Activision released an infographic detailing a range of impressive figures from their data. For instance, that those 100 million players have taken part in 28.8 billion matches and deployed 26.4 billion parachutes; enough material to cover the entire Verdansk map 136,442 times over. There have been 8.33 fights in the Gulag, and 8.01 billion players revived. (More than the total population of the Earth.)

Call of Duty Warzone Reaches 100 Million Players 2

Alongside the staggering Warzone milestone, Activision also announced a second milestone for the Call of Duty franchise as a whole. Namely, that Call of Duty has now surpassed 400 million premium game sales. This includes all sales since the very first Call of Duty premium game launched in 2003. That would average – very roughly – around 22 million game sales per year, every year, from 2003 to 2021. Certainly, there are few game franchises around the world that can claim a similar level of success.

With the launch of Black Ops Cold War Season Three – which includes some major content expansions for Warzone – the battle royale title is likely to keep growing in the near future. Evidently, the strategy of releasing Black Ops Cold War content in Warzone has worked, keeping the game’s audience playing well after its launch. It’s currently unknown how long Activision plan to keep bringing new content to Warzone. However, given its level of success, players should expect no shortage or end to new Warzone content anytime soon.
