CD Projekt Red Won’t Have a Cyberpunk 2077 Booth at GamesCom

GamesCom 2018 is one of the next big gaming events after E3. It will be held in Cologne, Germany, later this month; it will run from Tuesday the 21st to Saturday the 25th. Many fans have been hoping that CD Projekt Red would make an appearance at the event, perhaps with a Cyberpunk 2077 booth. However, those hopes may now have been dashed.

CD Projekt Red stole the show at E3 with their Cyberpunk 2077 story trailer. After five years of relative silence, the studio turned their upcoming game into one of the most anticipated games of the year overnight. Since then, fans have been clamoring for more information or a glimpse of actual gameplay. Some, indeed, had been hoping that they might get that at GamesCom. However, CD Projekt Red has now confirmed via Twitter that the studio will not have a public booth at the event.

Back in June, Marcin Iwinski suggested that Cyberpunk 2077 would show off gameplay at GamesCom. However, it’s now unclear whether those plans are still in place. It’s possible that the studio may stage another demo behind closed doors. Hopefully, they still plan to debut a public demo, and simply won’t have a booth at the event. However, it could well be that the studio’s plans have changed in the last couple of months, and they are no longer in a position to show gameplay as planned. The developers have been clear that there is still a lot of work to do on Cyberpunk 2077; the fact that gameplay wasn’t shown publicly at E3 should tell fans a lot about the state of the game. The game doesn’t even have a release window, let alone an actual date, yet. Fans should keep an ear out for Cyberpunk appearing at GamesCom, but probably shouldn’t get their hopes up.
