Cyberpunk 2077’s New Story Trailer Has Already Got More Views Than the 2013 Teaser

It seems that, after nearly five years of anticipation, fans are now getting very excited for the impending release of Cyberpunk 2077. CD Projekt Red debuted a new story trailer at E3, and in just two weeks, the trailer has amassed an enormous number of views. Even though gameplay wasn’t shown publicly at E3, Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the clear stand-outs at the annual expo this year.

The New Cyberpunk 2077 Story Trailer

CD Projekt Red released the first teaser trailer for Cyberpunk 2077 in January of 2013. That trailer was widely viewed online, and over the course of the last five years has amassed around 13,275,000 views on YouTube. Evidently, however, fans are much more excited to see the metropolis of Night City in the more recent trailer. The new story trailer has already gained some 13,323,000 views on YouTube, overtaking its predecessor in just two weeks.

The new story trailer offers fans a much clearer look at the setting and aesthetic of the upcoming sci-fi RPG than the previous teaser. It’s also worth noting that the game was actually partially rebooted; one of the key reasons why it has taken five years for CD Projekt Red to reveal any new information. As such, the setting of Night City may have changed considerably from how it was initially envisioned in 2012-13.

Cyberpunk's First Trailer Was Released Five Years Ago

CD Projekt Red have yet to announce a release date for the game. It seems likely that Cyberpunk 2077 could release sometime in 2019 or 2020. What is known is that the upcoming title is planned to release on next-generation consoles. As none of those have been given a formal release date or even revealed as of yet; Cyberpunk and other games planned for release on the next generation may not have slated release dates yet. Many studios could well be waiting until they know exactly when the new consoles will release.
