CD Projekt Red Confirms Warner Bros. Will Distribute Cyberpunk 2077

Although CD Projekt Red has not announced a release date for Cyberpunk 2077 (or even given a rough indication), the studio has now confirmed their distribution partner. Once again, the Polish studio will partner with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, this time for the Cyberpunk 2077 launch. The two companies have worked together several times before.

CD Projekt Red Partnering with Warner Bros. for Cyberpunk 2077 Launch

CD Projekt Red has a long history with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. Warner Bros. previously oversaw distribution for both The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. As such, it makes perfect sense for the two companies to partner again for Cyberpunk 2077, which is likely to be CD Projekt Red’s biggest launch ever; “We’ve worked with Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment on The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and both releases turned out to be really successful,” says Michał Nowakowski, CD Projekt Red’s SVP of Business Development; “so we’re entering this new stage of our cooperation with great confidence.”

The Cyberpunk 2077 Launch Date is Still Unknown

Unfortunately for fans, this new announcement doesn’t give any major indication of the game’s release date. It’s also only the first announcement of this sort thus far; Warner Bros. will only distribute the game in certain regions. CD Projekt Red has not announced a distribution partner for other regions. In the case of The Witcher 3, the game was distributed in both some areas of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand by Bandai Namco. It’s unknown as of yet whether that partnership will renew or whether CD Projekt Red will find somebody else. Given the enormous hype surrounding the game already, it wouldn’t be surprising if there are multiple companies vying for the opportunity. Fans, however, will have to wait patiently for any news of the actual Cyberpunk 2077 launch date. A recent rumour suggests that it could come in 2019, but it has yet to be confirmed.
