Correction: EA Projected Earnings and Battlefield 5 Sales

Yesterday, we, along with a number of other gaming news sites, covered a story about Battlefield 5 sales and a revision which EA had made to their earnings projections for the 2019 financial year. While the details of the report’s contents were factually accurate; we quickly became aware that the report was initially published several months ago. It appears that the report was re-shared online by a third party and promptly picked up widely by news sites, including us. We here at VGR take our reporting, and our accuracy, very seriously. As such, while it may have sufficed to simply add an amendment to the article, we felt it best to instead issue a formal correction.

Battlefield 5 Sales and EA’s Projected Earnings Revision: The Correction

The article which we published yesterday (here) referred to a revision which had been made by EA; specifically, one to their projected revenue for the 2019 financial year. The revision, which deducted some $350 million from the initial $5.55 billion figure, actually occurred in August. As such, this revision came prior to the release of Battlefield 5. The story which circulated yesterday on a variety of news sites and on social media included correct facts for the report’s contents. However, they were in the incorrect context; one implying that the reduction was due to poor sales for Battlefield 5. To clarify, EA has not made any revisions to their 2019 projections since the release of Battlefield 5.

We hope that this formal correction will assuage any concerns among our readership. As stated above, we believe in maintaining a high standard of veracity in all of our reporting. If we added a note to the original article, it would likely go unnoticed by many of our readers; hence why we are issuing a correction as a separate article.

We hope that you will continue to trust in and support our reporting on Battlefield 5, and our commitment to accurate reporting in all of our topics. We will always do our best to deliver you high-quality content. Moreover, we will always admit when we, as in this case, make an unfortunate error.
