Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 Promises to Address Major Issues

After announcing a delay after the studio was struck by a major cyber-attack, CD Projekt Red has now revealed details of what will be included with the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2. This will be the second major game update in 2021 and aims to address several of the game’s biggest problems.

What’s Coming in Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2

The first feature reportedly coming in Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2 is a big change to the way the NCPD function. This is something which players have been asking for since launch, with many frustrated at the police force’s lack of tactical ability and ability to spawn extremely close to players very quickly. “The rapid deployment tactics they recently adopted forced mercenaries to think twice before pointing a gun at anyone,” says CD Projekt Red; “but will now be adjusted to give the other side some breathing room.”

According to Cyberpunk 2077’s Lead Gameplay Designer and Technical Design Coordinator, this change should; “decrease the problem of NPCs spawning behind players’ backs and create an impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime is reported”. Furthermore, the police will be getting a new reconnaissance drone which will be among the first things to arrive on the scene.

The next major change coming in Patch 1.2 is an improvement to the game’s driving mechanics. Specifically, steering changes which should make driving more fluid, along with new options to adjust steering sensitivity. According to CD Projekt Red, the players having the most trouble with driving were those with low frame rates. The cause of this was reportedly a bug that was failing to handle frame rate changes. Combined with the new sensitivity settings, this fix should help players to stay in control when behind the wheel. Plus, a new “Rock&Roll” vehicle subsystem will allow players to rotate their vehicle or rock in place. This should allow players whose vehicles become stuck to free themselves.

At present, CD Projekt Red has not announced a firm release date for Cyberpunk 2077 Patch 1.2. It’s still unknown exactly how badly the recent cyber-attack impacted work on the patch. (The event reportedly left many developers unable to access their work for almost two weeks.) However, CD Projekt Red has confirmed that the patch is currently in its testing phase prior to its forthcoming release.
