Dark Souls-Like Battle Royale Game Egress Begins Closed Beta Next Month

Egress sounds like the elevator pitch for a Battle Royale game that we’ve been waiting for. Take a Battle Royale-style game where a certain number of players fight to the last man standing using a Dark Souls-like combat system. This allows for it to have its own unique take on the oversaturated Battle Royale genre and stand out significantly.

Egress will be having a closed beta very soon, beginning on August 1st. Thankfully, there is still time to sign up for a chance to get in. You can subscribe for your chance to get into the closed beta for this upcoming Battle Royale game by heading to this link right here. What sets Egress apart from other Battle Royale games is obviously Dark Souls inspiration. Like the classes in the Souls series, players will have the opportunity to select from 12 different heroes for each match. Every single hero has their own unique skills and traits. The Vampire, for instance, is an otherworldly creature with the ability to regenerate quickly.

Like the Souls series, there is an emphasis on slow and methodical melee combat. Though there seem to be some ranged attacks, they do appear weak and cumbersome. It is all about timing your attacks, dodges, and counters perfectly against your opponent(s).

Egress also takes verticality more seriously than other Battle Royale games. There are stairs and elevators that ascend to higher levels. Instead of the storm circle like other games in the genre, the water rises every few minutes, requiring players to go to a higher level which increases the chances of encountering someone.
