DeAndre Hopkins Joins Madden 99 Club, as Player Ratings Update Arrives

A brand new Madden 21 ratings update has arrived for the football simulation game and with it a new member of the Madden 99 Club. Wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins has gained entry into the exclusive membership, which features another star receiver from the NFC. In addition to Hopkins’ upgrade, a number of other players also moved up in the latest update.

DeAndre Hopkins goes into Madden 99 Club

On Thursday morning, EA dropped the big news about the latest player to move up to a 99 overall rating. An impressive “miracle” catch late in a win against the Buffalo Bills is what got DeAndre Hopkins entry into the Madden 99 Club. That catch helped Arizona edge out Buffalo, 32-30.

In addition, DeAndre Hopkins recorded seven receptions for 127 yards. That boosted the Cardinals’ record to 6-3, with the team set to play Thursday night in a big rematch with the Seattle Seahawks.

Hopkins shared the news as did his team about the Madden 99 Club on Twitter.

DeAndre Hopkins joins seven other players in the 99 Club including an opponent in tonight’s game, Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, who joined in the past few weeks.

There is also last year’s cover star Patrick Mahomes (Chiefs) and WR Michael Thomas (Saints), with the latter falling out (see below). Also in the club are DT Aaron Donald (Rams), CB Stephon Gilmore (Patriots), and running back Christian McCaffrey (Panthers).

EA game announces major ratings update

Along with DeAndre Hopkins going up to the 99 Club, other players are on the rise. EA shared a report detailing some of the players that moved up in the ratings, including Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Ronald Jones. In addition, EA mentions that Indianapolis Colts running back Nyheim Hines rose three points to become a 78 OVR, and Washington WR Terry McLaurin rose one point to an 87 OVR.

Interestingly, a few star players dropped and that includes Michael Thomas, who began this season as part of the Madden 99 Club. EA’s report says that Thomas was hurt in Week 1 and didn’t get on the field until Week 9. His production has been disappointing since, so he’s dropped two points to become a 97 OVR.

Also slumping is the Colts’ wide receiver T.Y. Hilton who slid a point down to an 83 OVR. As EA mentions, the star receiver has just 26 grabs for 291 yards and zero touchdowns in eight games.

The new ratings update arrives as a Madden 21 title update also arrived on Thursday, November 19. It’s approximately 1.846 gigabytes on the PlayStation 4, bringing extensive fixes or additions to the current-gen game.

Soon, Madden fans will be looking forward to next-gen gameplay as the game is set to launch for the new PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles in early December. Visit our Madden news page to get more updates.
