Destiny 2: Datamining Teases Returning Exotics In Season of Opulence

Now that Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence is live, dataminers have been busy parsing through the update’s game files. As of this writing, much that Bungie worked to keep hidden has been unearthed. In fact, if what dataminers say is true, players can expect several new and returning Exotics this season. Among the returning Exotics are the Bad Juju pulse rifle, Khepri’s Sting Hunter gauntlets, Peregrine Greaves Titan boots, and more.

So far, there are six new Destiny 2 Exotics which have either been confirmed or hinted at. Of those six, there are two that we technically knew about already. Bungie’s recent Season of Opulence roadmap confirmed the return of the Exotic rocket launcher Trust. The roadmap also revealed a brand new Destiny 2 Exotic hand cannon called Lumina which will arrive later this month.

Beyond the scope of the roadmap, we’re entering datamining territory. This Reddit thread points to several returning Exotic armor pieces, some with reworked perks and stats. First, there’s Khepri’s Sting, a pair of Hunter Exotic gauntlets. In their reworked form, Khepri’s Sting deploys a smoke bomb whenever the player strikes with a full-energy melee attack.

As for the Peregrine Greaves Exotic Titan boots, they function pretty much the same way they did in Destiny. If a player hits with a charged melee ability (like Seismic Strike) in mid-air, they deal significant bonus damage.

For Warlocks, the Astrocyte Verse Exotic helmet is making a return. This time around, Astrocyte Verse allows a player to use their Blink ability more often. The total travel distance of each Blink use is also increased, as is the player’s post-Blink weapon ready speed. Lastly, the player’s radar remains active during the Blink period.

Over on the Exotic weapons side of the fence, another datamine teased the return of Bad Juju. Back in the original Destiny, Bad Juju was an incredibly popular gun, so its return isn’t terribly surprising. The only other new weapon that’s been datamined so far is an Exotic SMG called Tarrabah. According to the datamine, Tarrabah’s unique ‘Ravenous Beast’ perk allows it to store up energy when its user takes or deals damage. At full charge, the player can then unleash an energy blast by holding down the reload button.

Stay tuned for more Destiny 2 news in the near future, especially as the Season of Opulence progresses.
