Destiny 2: Bungie Outlines Major Season 7 Iron Banner Changes

Destiny 2’s first Season of Opulence Iron Banner event starts this week, and Bungie is tweaking the event once again. This time around, Bungie is addressing how players earn rewards through Iron Banner participation. A new armor quest, new cosmetic rewards, and Double Valor will round out the inaugural Season 7 Iron Banner.

Destiny 2 Iron Banner Reward Adjustments

Destiny 2 season 7 Iron Banner changes

Bungie explained how it’s tweaking Iron Banner rewards in its latest weekly blog post. The most significant change involves how Iron Banner players will unlock new armor pieces. In the past, individual armor pieces were unlocked by completing specific Iron Banner bounties. For the Season of Opulence, Bungie is instead introducing a multi-part Iron Banner quest. Each completed quest step will award a new armor piece until all five pieces have been earned.

Every armor piece earned through the new Iron Banner quest will also drop as a powerful reward. This means that the Iron Banner will be a worthwhile pursuit for players hoping to boost their overall power level. Once a specific armor piece has been obtained, it can also drop from Iron Banner reputation packages and end-of-match rewards. These duplicate drops will have random perk rolls so players can compare them to the original quest drops. The new Season 7 armor is also compatible with all Year 1 Iron Banner armor ornaments.

Speaking of Iron Banner reputation packages, they’ve been tweaked as well. Armor dropped from reputation packages can now have enhanced perk rolls. There are also new weapons to find, and the first package a player redeems has a high weapon-drop chance. Lord Saladin will also continue offering Iron Banner bounties with token and gear rewards. Lastly, a new series of Iron Banner objectives will award new shaders, a sparrow, and an emblem upon completion.

The first Season 7 Iron Banner event runs from tomorrow, June 18, to June 25 (so one week). Bungie is also enabling Double Valor for all Crucible playlists during that time. For more on Destiny 2, be sure to check out our Menagerie encounter guide.
