Yet another Exotic weapon quest is now available in Destiny 2, this one for the Truth rocket launcher. The good news is that, unlike previous Exotic weapon quests, earning Truth doesn’t require any sort of mandatory PvP. The bad news is that you’ll need to do a ton of grinding to add Truth to your arsenal. If you’re undaunted by the prospect of busywork, we’ve outlined the full Truth unlock process below.
Destiny 2: Unlocking The Truth Rocket Launcher
The presence of the Truth quest isn’t exactly a secret since it was listed on Bungie’s Destiny 2 content roadmap. However, it’s not immediately clear how to formally begin the quest. Unsurprisingly, the quest for Truth begins in the new Season of Opulence Menagerie activity.
Complete The Menagerie
To kick off the Truth quest, all you need to do is finish a single run of the Menagerie. When you open the final reward chest, you’ll receive an item called ‘A Scrap of Paper.’ That item is the first link in the quest.
Finish An Ascendant Challenge
The Scrap of Paper item will send you over to Petra Venj in the Dreaming City. Speak with Venj and she’ll tell you that you need to finish an Ascendant Challenge. Pick up her Ascendant Challenge bounty and make sure you have a Tincture of Queensfoil. The specific location of the Ascendant Challenge portal changes each week so you might have to look it up. Complete the challenge and you’ll receive a new item, ‘A Map Asunder.’
Restore The Map
The Map Asunder must be restored before it can be read. You’ll need to find four different map fragments, one each in the following locations:
- The Bay of Drowned Wishes Lost Sector in the Dreaming City. With the Ascendant buff active, a series of platforms should appear in the sector’s large open beach area. The fragment is up on those platforms.
- The Tangled Shore location where you fought the Mindbender. Head to the Jetsam of Saturn and proceed through the cavern corridors until you encounter a large group of Hive. Kill the large Hive Ogre mini-boss and it will drop the fragment.
- Head to the Cistern on Nessus with an Ascendant buff active. A series of platforms with the fragment will appear over the large Vex milk lake.
- Finish any Nightfall strike and you’ll get the fourth fragment from the final reward chest.
Once you have all four fragments, your work isn’t quite done. Each fragment has an associated challenge which must also be completed. The four challenges are as follows:
- Get 50 rocket launcher kills on Nessus with the Ascendant buff active.
- Rack up 100 Hive kills on the Tangled Shore
- Complete three Nightfall strikes and earn 60 Nightfall rocket launcher kills. Both tasks must be completed with a -100 handicap active.
- Finish a Corsair Down badge pursuit in the Dreaming City. This requires finding a Corsair Down badge from slain Scorn and then locating the badge’s owner. Depending on the badge, you’ll find a slain Corsair in a certain location. Examine the Corsair’s body to spawn a mini-boss, slay the mini-boss, and taken the restored badge to a Corsair outpost.
Complete The Warden of Nothing Strike
With the map restored, you’ll be sent into the Warden of Nothing strike on the Tangled Shore. It’s best to link up with a dedicated fireteam since you’ll need to do more than just finish the strike. You also need to find and activate five small Saturn holograms hidden throughout the strike. Once you finish the strike, activate another Tincture of Queensfoil and look behind the large boss fight platform. You’ll spot a final series of Ascendant platforms which lead to a chest holding Truth.
