Destiny 2 Will Be Moving To Steam on August 20th

After the Bungie-Activision split was announced back in June 2019, Bungie had to find a new home for Destiny 2. Right now, Destiny 2 on PC is playable from Activision Blizzard’s Battle.net Launcher. But since their partnership contract has ended recently, Bungie will be moving over to Steam on PC. It was revealed along with the other fall announcements – Shadowkeep.

If you’re wondering, (whether we wanted it or not, we’ve stepped….) whether or not you’re going to lose any progress in-game with the migration process – well, no. Bungie made sure about Destiny 2 players not losing their in-game progress that includes Character progression, Weapon collections, Eververse Purchases, etc. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is currently live on the Steam store for pre-orders. So, it is the right time to pre-order Destiny 2: Shadowkeep if you’re planning on shifting to PC.

Destiny 2 Moving to Steam

In This Week At Bungie, Bungie detailed more about this migration process. They said that players will be able to play Destiny 2 from Steam on October 1, 2019, with Shadowkeep launch. On August 20, 2019, players will just move their in-game progress to Steam. Here’s what they included in the blog-post:

“This is a resource for players who have been playing Destiny 2 on PC and will be moving with us to our new home on Steam. In keeping with the announcement from last week about our new launch window, Destiny 2 will arrive on Steam for the first time on October 1. Before that happens, on August 20, you’ll be invited to begin the process of linking your PC player accounts for a smooth transition of your Guardians and all your game purchases.”
