Upcoming Detroit: Become Human Patch Will Let Players Change a Major Decision

In an unexpected move, Quantic Dream, the studio behind Detroit: Become Human, has announced that they will be adding a new option to the game in an upcoming patch. The option will allow players to undo a major decision which affects the game’s menu screen; bringing a new model of Chloe back after her departure.

Quantic Dream state that they made the decision because of fans calling for the option. Seeing as it seems to go against the story events which lead to her departure, it seems unlikely to have been planned. Chloe’s role in Detroit: Become Human is in the game’s menu screen, where she explains certain gameplay elements and options, and occasionally comments on the game. After players complete Detroit: Become Human, they are given the option of setting Chloe free. You can then choose whether to permit her to leave and join the game’s revolution, or keep her in servitude. If you set her free, she will depart the menu screen permanently.

The Decision to Free Chloe

Quantic Dream stated in their tweet that “a lot of players” had been asking for a way to bring back Chloe after setting her free. As a result, they will be adding a new option to the game. Players who utilize this option can acquire a new Chloe model who will take the original android’s place in the game’s menu. Quantic Dream specified that the original Chloe would remain free. It’s important to note that this will only be an option.

The Option to Acquire a New Chloe Model Will be Available After Setting Her Free

Some players may feel that having such an option slightly undermines the decision; allowing Chloe to go free seemed to be a fitting final decision for players. Although separate from the game’s story-lines, the decision echoed themes portrayed throughout the game. It also neatly put the onus on players directly to make a decision; rather than making a decision on behalf of a character in the game. However, enough players evidently weren’t happy with the permanency of her departure to prompt Quantic Dream to take action. Certainly, as Detroit enjoyed Quantic Dream’s most successful launch ever, there are a lot of players who may already have made the decision to free Chloe.
