Detroit: Become Human Was the Most Watched New Release on Twitch During May

Detroit: Become Human has performed extremely well when it comes to sales since its release. Although the game’s critical reception failed to live up to the critical acclaim received by Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream’s best-known title, the game has clearly been popular with gamers. A new statistic heavily reinforces that notion; in just two days, Detroit: Become Human had more views on Twitch than any other game released in May.

Detroit: Become Human on Twitch

The statistics tracking site Newzoo recently released the viewing statistics for games on Twitch during May. While major titles like PUBG, Dota 2, and League of Legends held the top spots, with Fortnite recording a total of 142.3 million views, Detroit: Become Human was the most-watched new release. The game claimed the #10 spot for most-watched games on Twitch during May, despite releasing with less than a full week of the month to go.

Detroit Was Also the Most Watched Single Player Game

In those few days, Detroit: Become Human recorded more views than any other game to release during the month. Those releases included both Dark Souls Remastered and State of Decay 2. Notably, it was also the most-watched single-player game on Twitch during May. The game’s capacity for divergent storylines seems likely to have given it a boost on platforms like Twitch; with players able to play through entirely different versions of the story in their playthrough, there is far more reason for fans to watch more than one version.

The total list for most-watched games for the month of May was as follows. Note that the list includes total hours and also “Esports hours”.

  1. Fortnite (14.3 million / 0.4 million)
  2. League of Legends (81.2 million / 17.2 million)
