Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider Have Received Free New Content Additions

It seems Christmas has come early for Dishonored 2 and Death of the Outsider fans. Arkane Studios and Bethesda have announced a surprise content update which adds new features into both games. Best of all, this new content update is entirely free for all players, though a valid Bethesda account is required.

Dishonored 2/Death of the Outsider Surprise Content Update

Bethesda announced the new content update in a blog post on its website. Accessing the update’s new content requires players to log into their Bethesda account from the in-game main menu. If a player doesn’t already have a Bethesda account, they can make one for free.

Dishonored 2 gets a moody new black and white mode.

Once a player has linked their Bethesda account, they’ll unlock two brand new game modes. These modes can be played in both Dishonored 2 and the Death of the Outsider spin-off game.

  • Mission +: Revisit any previously completed mission with all powers and weapons available. Freely experiment with any weapon/power combo as you dispatch your foes and explore the mission to your heart’s content.
  • Back and White: Activate a new visual filter which cloaks the world in a moody noire-esque black and white color scheme. Blood, however, remains red, ensuring that players can still appreciate the game’s visceral and violent presentation.

Along with the new game modes, Dishonored 2 players who link their Bethesda account can access the Imperial Assassin’s Pack. The Imperial Assassin’s Pack was originally a pre-order exclusive, but it’s now freely available to all players. The pack awards the following bonus items which can be found on the Dreadful Wale:

  • Duelist’s Luck bone charm
  • Void Favor bone charm
  • In-Game Antique Serkonan Guitar
  • In-Game Book: Goodbye, Karnaca – A Musician’s Farewell
  • 500 Bonus Coins

Giving players free content is certainly a good thing, but it’s not all sunshine and rainbows for Bethesda. The studio’s restricting of Rage 2’s PC version to the Bethesda Store is making many fans understandably upset. Arkane Studios, meanwhile, just recently released the semi-free Typhon Hunter competitive mode for Prey.
